Head at Oral and Maxillofacial radiology, Dept of Odontology, Faculty of Medicine, Umeå University, Sweden. He became specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in 1994. Doctor of Odontology in 1998 and since 2002 he is Associate Professor, at the department. 2008-2011 he was head of the department of Odontology. His research include radiographic depiction of the TMJ, accuracy and precision in cephalometric examinations, radiographic evaluation of implant treatment and the significance of findings of carotid calcifications in panoramic images. He has a genuine interest in questions dealing with education and learning. He has received awards for his pedagogical work from both the undergraduate students, the Department of Odontologi and from the Faculty of medicine at Umeå University. Since 1999 he is working in a project called Virtual radiology. In the project a radiography simulator for learning radiographic principles has been developed and evaluated in scientific studies. In 2004 he and his colleges received the European Academic Software Award for the simulator. For 25 years he has also worked as Forensic Odontologist affiliated to Identification team North in the Swedish Police.
